SP30 offers sandwich packaging flexibility

Proseal has launched an additional version of its groundbreaking linear conveyor sandwich packing system for the de-nesting, erecting and sealing of cardboard sandwich skillets.

The new Proseal SP30 is a more compact version of the original SP60 model and has been introduced to enable smaller sandwich manufacturers to include the new cardboard skillet designs among their packaging portfolio.

“With an increasing number of retailers showing interest in cardboard skillets, many more sandwich manufacturers will need to offer this type of pack,” explains Proseal director, Steve Malone. “However, certain operations will not require the large throughput of our SP60 machines, so this new model has been developed with the flexibility to handle smaller production runs and frequent pack changeovers, while still offering a high level of automation to reduce labour costs.”

The SP30 offers a top speed of 30 packs per minute, handling many skillet formats in a variety of widths, with a five-minute size change that can easily be carried out by line operators. User-friendly features include a menu-driven control panel with step-by-step prompts, error and status displays and a batch pack counter.

The SP30 is manufactured to food industry approved hygiene standards with wash down protection. An advanced tool alignment system, combined with full temperature and seal pressure control, ensures a consistently accurate seal. A high specification conveyor drive system provides full control of the linear acceleration, deceleration and velocity of product movement and eliminates spillage.

Automatic pack ejection presents packs uniformly for subsequent handling by downstream operators.
