East Cheshire manufacturer Proseal has sent a van loaded with foods and toiletries to support a local foodbank.

Silklife Foodbank was established by Macclesfield’s Silklife Church in December 2010, to provide nutritional, non-perishable food for those in the community who have fallen on hard times and are temporarily unable to provide for themselves.

Referrals to the foodbank have nearly doubled since the start of lockdown in 2020 to approximately 175 families per month. The foodbank currently distributes around 850kg of food and toiletries weekly.

Proseal, based on the Adlington Industrial Estate to the north of Macclesfield, manufactures packaging machinery for the food, non food and pharmaceutical industries and employs over 400 people in the region.

“The Silklife team is an inspiration and we wanted to do our bit to support their amazing work,” says Jon Garner, President Packaging Group. “With Christmas looming, the donation includes a few festive goodies amongst other essential items.”

“We’d like to thank Proseal for such a generous donation,” said Dan Blackman, manager of Silklife Foodbank. “We rely on the support and kindness of the community, and it’s great that local businesses like Proseal are helping us to help those in need.”

Silklife Foodbank is stocked mainly by regular food and financial donations. To donate, visit the foodbank’s JustGiving page at: https://www.justgiving.com/silklifechurch
