The wide-ranging benefits of top sealed trays for fresh produce will be showcased on the Proseal Poland stand at this year’s TSW exhibition in Pruszków, where the tray sealing specialist will demonstrate the Proseal GT2s model from its extensive range of tray sealers.

The move from the traditional clip on lid to a top-seal film for soft fruit punnets and trays can reduce packaging materials by as much as 42% and has the potential to offer a saving of up to 10 Tons of plastic for every 1 million trays sealed. As well as this important environmental benefit, top-sealed trays bring a number of practical advantages as well. The trays can use pre-printed film, which eliminates the need for additional labels and applicator equipment (and therefore add-on costs) and top-sealing helps to improve a pack’s overall appearance whilst reducing the amount of space required in a pack-house to store the lids for trays. A sealed lid also makes the pack tamper proof. 

The Proseal GT2s incorporates several technical features that enables it to deliver high throughput – up to 120 packs per minute with a six-impression tool – and quality seals.

The company’s pioneering Eseal® technology can achieve a 92% reduction in energy consumption, offering valuable cost savings, while ensuring a high-precision seal with an extremely strong sealing force.

To maximise throughput, Proseal’s ProMotion technology uses following motion and intelligent buffering to enable trays to feed continuously into the sealer without stopping. An auto-detect product flow monitoring system regulates the speed of the infeed conveyor according the number of trays being supplied.

Efficiency is further enhanced by Proseal’s ‘Auto Tool’ connection system, which enables tool changes to be carried out in around two minutes, with downtime minimised by quick-change conveyor belts and an auto-lock film reel holder.

The GT2s’s user-friendly menu-driven control panel features step by step prompts, error and status displays, and a batch pack counter.  The maintenance-friendly, robust and food industry approved hygiene construction provides full wash down protection.
